| The Right to Request Time Off for Training in Small to Medium Sized Companies is Shelved by the Government until 2015. |
|
Since April 2010 employees in companies with more than 250 employees have been able to request unpaid time off to undertake relevant training. This right was to be extended to small to medium sized enterprises (SME's) in 2012.
However, following a Government consultation started in August 2010 by the Skills Minister, John Hayes, the Government have decided that they will not extend this right to SME's before 2015. This decision has been taken as part of the Government's aim to reduce the regulatory burden on business in order to help create more jobs. |
