Objective
At the end of the course participants will be able to:
• Understand the need for an effective Absence Management Policy
• Interpersonal skills involved in dealing with absence and return to work interviews
• Understanding the link into the disciplinary process and when to use it
• Monitoring and reviewing personal action plans

• Establishing an Absence Management Policy
• Return to work interview
• Skills and behaviour for conducting a return to work interview
• Role play
• Linking absence management into the disciplinary process
• Personal action plans
Method
The workshop is highly participative and will involve the use of practical exercises to aid the learning process, in addition to group discussion and tutor input. Handouts giving the key elements of each section will be provided.
